Perennial Roots follows the story of Sunny, a half-human half-flower girl who is insecure about her flower background. Sunny happens to have a friend coming over to her house on the Spring Equinox, a festive flower holiday, of all days! The story follows her day navigating her flower dad's traditional celebrations, as well as her emotions towards her dad, her family, and herself.

This project is very personal to me, as it was inspired by my own experiences growing up as a mixed-race girl in America. I wanted to create a meaningful story that portrayed a unique side of being mixed race that often does not get represented in media.
